Along Comes Harry

I really wish I knew where Harry Reid stands on things. He’s trying to get a bill passed, just not one that will do more good than harm.

Along Comes Harry
Original words and music “Along Comes Mary” by Terry Kirkma,
Additional Lyrics by Wayne A. Schneider, 2009

Every time I think that I see Congress making progress something cautions me
And every now and then I spend my time In rhyme and verse and curse those faults I see
And then along comes Harry
And does he want to give ’em kicks, and be a heavy stick, and give me pick of policies?
Or let Dan Rather gather tales of all the failed negotiations no one ever sees?

When they met they were sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup says to beat up the bunch

When hate’s desire is the ire In the lies of dicks whose sickness is in plain display
And when the master tape is played and late night hosts make jokes as who is most inane today
And then along comes Harry
And does he want to leave them be and let them face reality from where they hide their shame
Or will they grumble much when sold by such a tender touch as his and say they’re not to blame

When they met they were sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup says to beat up the bunch

And with the noting of the voting’s stance, enhanced and rancid words are flung across the aisle
The psychodramas and the traumas done, the lies are left unchecked and heft upon the pile
And then along comes Harry
And does he want to see the strains, the dull remains of all the brains unused the night before
Or will his droopy eyes inspect the lies and make him realize our urgent cry for fight no more

When they met they were sure out to lunch
Now my empty cup says to beat up the bunch
Beat…up…the…bunch
Beat…up…the…bunch
Beat…up…the…bunch
Beat up the bunch

  1. that’s great man!

really hard to sing along-to–it takes some practice.

Actually, what you’ve done is quite brilliant.

  2. Well above your average Wayne. It is hard to sing to, especially when used to the original lyrics.

We could have used the Smothers Brothers on Comedy Central the last eight years. Good choice of clip.

  3. Great job, Wayne. Good choice of target. I thought that I had to learn patience during the Bush years, that is, patient until he got out of office. Now, I’m learning a different kind of patience.
